Herbie's Final Update

Herbie, the Lorain, OH Pit Bull has crossed The Bridge. :(

Our Final Herbie Update 3.1.13 :'(

Via Doc Rick Broz:
"This is the hardest message I have ever had to post. Herbie has gone to the bridge. He fought hard to recover from his abuse, but the cancer was too much for him to bear. He had stopped eating and was losing weight and muscle. These last two weeks with him were very hard on me, watching this magnificent animal begin to waste away from the dog he had become under Dr. Woods care and my love. I did not wish to see him start to suffer. In his way, he told me yesterday that he was ready to leave us. I told Dr. Woods of my wishes and he agreed that it was time. Herbie died in my arms at approximately 2:00 P.M. Ohio time. I know that if he could talk, he would tell all of you how much he loved each and everyone of you and you were the reason he was able to fight for so long. I will be signing off of Facebook now and going somewhere for a few days to mourn in my own way. Please say a prayer for our Herbie as he begins the next part of his journey, to wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge until I can join him there for an eternity of happiness. -Doc"

Tears are falling heavily as I post my last update on you sweet boy. You have touched the lives and hearts of so many people. To Doc, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I know you loved that boy so much and I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am. I know Herbie's in a better place now and that his time was up, but for all of us, it is so very hard to have to endure his passing, and even more so for you.

We enjoyed posting the latest updates that you put up in Justice for Herbie with a cute picture of the handsome boy attached. To think that this will be the final update, it just breaks my heart in two.

Herbie, baby, you had a rotten start and only you, God, and your abuser(s) know what happened to you then. But after you were found by Officer Broz, you got to experience the love and compassion you were so richly deserved! You have fun up there in your new, healthy body. There's MANY friends waiting for you up there, including my boy, Chance Man. You can run and play til your heart's content. But just know young man, you have many people here that love and miss you so!!! Don't EVER forget that!
WE LOVE YOU!! Doc, you are in our prayers! ♥

~Love,
Nikki, Ollie, & Gracie ♥

♥♥ RIP HERBIE! ALWAYS LOVED & NEVER FORGOTTEN!!!! ♥♥

  2. You know that place between sleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming? That’s where I’ll always love you. That’s where I’ll be waiting. ― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

  5. Bless You & Herbie...you found each other....and you found your bond of best friends....Herbie left us with so much Love in his heart and the happiness & peace that he was able to give that Love to someone so special....& that was you....you gave exactly the same to him.....This is so bitter-sweet....I can hardly swallow for the lump in my throat...so I can, imagine how you must be feeling.....Herbie will be with you everyday, he will watch over you, as you did him, and he will protect you...he is your Angel...as you were his....I lost 2 of my babies last yr, had them 14 years....I miss them so much...Herbie had a short life...but what matters is that he found the love & peace that he needed...and you gave him that...there is nothing more precious that you could of possibly given him, and he knew it. ...True Love Never Dies....it can't....and he is with you with every heart-beat....R.I.P. Dear Boy...You are truly loved forever xxx

  6. ~My heart is heavy with all of the sadness that you must be feeling at this time. I have a lump in my throat and never even knew about Herbie until now. May you find peace in your heart and soul in knowing that he is playing already. Nothing like this is ever easy...I know from so many doggies I have had in my life. From the sounds of it, he was your best friend and you were his. Herbie has left paw prints all over everyone he knew and loved but mostly he has left those paw prints on your heart. <3 So very sorry to hear this news, but I have faith that Rainbow Bridge has welcomed Herbie and that he most definitely will be waiting to greet you when that time comes. Rest your mind now...as Herbie is resting his also!~

  10. My heart goes out to you as I know the heartbreak of losing a beloved family member. Your decision to avoid further suffering was such an unselfish act of true love. How wonderful that you were able to provide a loving and caring home for him before he passed. Prayers of comfort and comforting energy headed your way. Prayers goes out to Herbie that he finds love and patience on the other side while he waits to someday be reunited with you. I have no doubt he is romping and playing as the body that no longer served him is no longer there to hold him back. God bless and comfort you both. My heart and thoughts are with you.
