A woman was arrested for allegedly tying a puppy to her vehicle and dragging the animal, causing severe injuries.

At about 1:06 a.m. Saturday, Kinston Police noticed blood near an SUV outside the Lunch Box convenience store, investigators said. The scene is at 523 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Witnesses told police they saw 26-year-old Jennifer Marie Wilson, of Kinston, dragging a small dog attached to the bumper of her vehicle. Investigators said the animal was severely injured and was turned over to the Lenoir County SPCA, where its wounds were treated.

Wilson has been charged with felony cruelty to animals and was being held in the Lenoir County Jail under a $15,000 bond.
